Duties.

Salary.

(1) The term of the engagement of the person engaged

is for three years, commencing from the date of arrival at the port of disembarkation in the Colony.

The engage- ment, however, may be renewed as provided for in Clause 11. 2.- The duties of the person engaged shall include the usual duties of the office in whichhe is engaged, and any other suitable duties which the Government may call upon him to perform. The person engaged shall reside in such plece and occupy himself in such manuer as the Government, through its duly authoried officers, shall direct, and he shall not, either directly or indirectly engage or be concerned in any other service or business whatsoever or receive commissions or profits of any kind, but shall devote the whole of his time and attention

to the service of the Government and shall use his utmost

exertions to promote the interests of the Government. He

shall conform to the General or Standing Orders of the

Government, and to the Colonial Regulations in so far as

the same are applicable.

3.- (1)

In

Half salary will be paid during the voyage out

and home again on the satisfactory termination of the

engagement. Full salary will begin from the date of

arrival at the part of disembarkation in the Colony.

this Agreement the period of any voyage shall be reckoned

as commencing on the day of embarkation and ending on the

day previous to the day of disembarkation of the person

engaged, both days inclusive.

(2) Increments of salary, if any, will be reckoned

as from the date for which the person engaged first draws
